The 13th edition of the Atelier for Young Festival Managers, the first in Africa, will take place from 23 to 29 March 2018, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Introduction

The Festival Academy, in partnership with the Market Theatre Foundation and the University of Witwatersrand’s School of Arts, will present the Atelier. Up to 25 selected participants will participate in this 7-day training programme during which they will discuss various aspects of festival management with renowned festival managers from pioneering festivals and outstanding art centres and institutes from all over the world.

We're delighted to announce already some of the mentors and presenters who will be present at the Atelier Johannesburg 2018. 

Under the facilitation of Mike Van Graan (President African Cultural Policy Network –South Africa), the following festival experts will share their wealth of experience with participants, guide them through the 7 days, and discuss questions and issues raised by the participants themselves.

  • Ismail Mahomed, Chief Executive Officer, Market Theatre Foundation – South Africa
  • Carmen Romero Quero, Executive Director Teatro a Mil Foundation – Chile
  • Brett Pyper, Head Wits School of Arts – South Africa

More mentors and presenters will be announced very soon on this page! 

Mentors will also be available for personal exchanges during informal moments as lunches, dinners, visits etc., as this is an essential feature of the Atelier.
